Fluffing, rearranging, and spiffing up

"Shops are the measure of a town. In your mind, you keep track of your best and favorite shops.... We walk to the shops, we dress up to visit them, we feel our own excitement when we go in them." - Peter Miller, Shopkeeping: Stories, Advice, and Observations

Well, hello!

We've been fluffing, rearranging, and spiffing up the shop lately as we prepare to celebrate our 8th birthday!

In the process, I've re-fallen in love with these four walls (oh, and our pressed tin ceiling!) and even more so, all that is within them.

We've re-released some classic blue and white Toile of Thomasville for summer!

As you know, we love to curate gifts and goods for those who are English at heart with a Southern sensibility & a French twist.

We adore designing our own collections, as well as supporting other family-owned businesses offering small-batch, artisan-made goods, in addition to local artists.

These pillows, featuring art by our own Maddie Hart and hand-appliquéd locally for us by Honey Bee Fabrications, have been staples of our shop and are still flying off the shelves!

As Hannah and I have moved displays around, giving each shelf a spring cleaning and reassembling collections in their new spots, I've reminisced about the collections and why and how they found their way to us (or we found our way to them)!

There's truly a story behind each one and how it revolves around that English/Southern/French theme.

The extraordinary joy of the everyday: ruffled aprons, good English pottery, a chest lovingly painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, French candles, and real-touch Southern roses.

Our mission of celebrating the beauty of the places people love, embellishing the spaces surrounding them, and sharing in the extraordinary joy of the everyday is evident throughout the shop.

Smiling faces in the Atelier after our Floral Design workshop with Molly Squires. There's another one on June 27th!

Even the Atelier, where we play with Chalk Paint and hold creative classes, has been given a "glow-up" (as Hannah calls it).

We have oodles of new workshops scheduled for summer with more in the works for autumn).

And, Le Petit Marché is bursting with delightful edible gifts and goodies!

Lange Sea Salt, hand harvested near Charleston, SC, and Circle Dance Farm honey from right here in Thomasville are but a few of the delectable offerings in our Le Petit Marché section.

I hope you've enjoyed this little virtual peek into the shop. We'd love to see you in person next Saturday, May 30th!

We'll have yummy goodies, a gift with purchase and extra savings on our birthday sale, and even a chance to help us with our next art project (more on that next week)!

In the meantime, please shop our 8th Birthday Sale online (or come see us early - it's already going on in the shop)!

xo,
