How do I know it's truly fall? Let me count the ways...

It well and truly finally is fall! The calendar has said so for a few weeks, but it finally, finally feels like it. Do you feel it too?

Here's a list of how I know:

1. We are a few weeks into this year’s season (or series, as they say in the UK) of the Great British Baking Show (or Great British Bake Off, as they say in the UK)! What I love about watching this competition “live” (after anticipating it all summer) is that the episodes air across the pond on Tuesday each week, and by Friday we get to watch here in the US. And it’s not binge-watching, either. We have to wait a week to see what happens next: who gets Star Baker and who has to leave. I have to say, this year’s bakers are verrrrry talented!

2. Well, there’s the weather, too! We’ve had a few crisp days even down here in the Red Hills of south Georgia/north Florida. Chris told me that his car read 39 degrees F on his drive to his office in Tallahassee yesterday morning (!) ~ what a welcome relief. Everyone downtown has had a skip in their step as they've come in the shop this week!

3. Home projects are on the rise! We’ve more and more people coming into the shop to see about Annie Sloan paint products to start sprucing up their rooms at home for upcoming holidays and festivities. Aaaaand, we’ve got a fun project up our own sleeves (in addition to the one above), in which we are collaborating with a local artisan we cannot wait to introduce to you. (This is a little teaser for next week’s email… hint, hint!)

4. Thomasville’s event calendar is full, full, full! We’ve attended TEF concerts, Crate to Plate at the History Center, and last night had a wonderful evening with friends at the Landmarks annual member picnic at a beautiful, historic property. And we look forward to so many more such happenings: we have dear friends coming to town in November for Kevin’s Game Fair and the kick-off to Wildlife Arts Festival. And there’s much more than that ~ what a joy it is to live in such an active community! (As always, check out my curated event list at the bottom of each week’s email and on our website.)

5. There’s one last way I know it is truly fall: in the shop we are playing a favorite playlist, Autumn in the Shop. It just makes us happy! But not only that, I love fall so much that I created Another Autumn in the Shop playlist for double the autumnal feels. You can try them both out to keep the shop vibes going even after you’ve visited us!
