Let's turn the page to September...

... and what a beautiful thing that is.

It's actually here! Can you feel it? The "-ber" months have begun.

I adore September. What do I adore about September?

Well, for one, it's my birthday month, so I have many fond memories from childhood ~ looking forward all year to this month, as any child does!

My birthday also happens to fall (most years) on the autumnal equinox, which as a not-newly-minted adult is even more exciting than turning another year older!

I found this particular treasure while hunting at an antique store just around the corner from our home several months ago. (Great news: that shop, Vintage Treasures II, will be moving a few blocks to be in the heart of downtown Thomasville soon!)

I was actually there sourcing to create a wall of antique framed mirrors, but this botanical print jumped out at me.

It must have been part of a series, but luckily it was the "September" one, which is mainly why I love it!

Thinking of September brings me joy no matter the season. So it has pride of place amongst the mirrors all year round, and you can even see it upon entering the house.

September likes to pop up in pop culture, so I must not be the only one fascinated by this season-changing time of year. Of course, "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire is the first to come to mind, and I dare you not to be singing it all day now!

Growing up in the 70s, Neil Diamond's songbook was the soundtrack of my childhood, and hearing "September Morn" takes me right back. Rod Stewart also sang about September in "Maggie May" (although it's been a long time since we went back to school in September ~ now the kids here go back in early August!)

A favorite book by one of my favorite authors is "September" by Rosamunde Pilcher, set in the Highlands of Scotland. I try to reread it every September.

I adore ALL of her books and they give me comfort ~ the more I read them, the more content I am. They are like mac and cheese for the soul!

Speaking of mac and cheese, did you know that September is National Self-Care Awareness Month? All month long on our Instagram and in my emails, I will be highlighting some of my favorite ways for all of us to fill our cups as the season turns.
