Rivers know this: there is no hurry...
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”- A.A. Milne
I have always loved the quote by A.A. Milne, above. I whisper it to myself sometimes when I am feeling rushed ~ and it calms me.
I can imagine the river, always flowing in the same direction toward the place it is supposed to go.
And it will, it will, get there someday ~ at a time determined by factors that might be out of its control, like drought or rain or beaver dam, but it will get there!

The full quote from Chapter 6 of The House at Pooh Corner reads:
“By the time it came to the edge of the Forest, the stream had grown up, so that it was almost a river, and being grown-up, it did not run and jump and sparkle along as it used to do when it was younger, but moved more slowly. For it knew now where it was going, and it said to itself, 'There is no hurry. We shall get there some day.'"
Lately, I've been thinking of our precious shop a little bit like that river. It has grown up in these past 8+ years, and it's at the edge of the proverbial Forest. It knows now where it is going!
To that end, during this time of summer "unplugging" I've been able to step back and daydream the best dreams for our shop.
And it's been GOOD.
(The hard part is once you've decided what you want to do, you need to remind yourself that it can't ALL happen at once!)

There are diagrams to draw and lists to make. Of supplies to order, things to paint, furniture to move, events to plan, products to create and curate.... Then, of course, the doing of it all.
I cannot wait to share it all with you. But not yet!
Follow along over the next month or so as we implement and then unveil these changes:
✨ New shop and Atelier layout to enhance your shopping experience while also elevating events and workshops
✨ New product lines added (while keeping our staples) in our English at heart with a Southern sensibility & a French twist theme
✨ New events, workshops, and ways to connect (in addition to our beloved traditions)
We are eager for it all to come to fruition, but we promised ourselves we would enjoy the process!
I invite you to enjoy it along with us. You can do so on a daily basis on Instagram, and (of course) in each Friday letter.
I do so love writing to you!
