Something magical happens...

"I am never bored anywhere: being bored is an insult to oneself." - Jules Renard, French author and playwright

Last week, I shared my summer game plan for grown ups, and so far, so good on my end. How's your summer going?

Two of the ideas I shared on that plan are to enjoy the mornings and to unplug.

The other day, I combined both of those tips when I took a "photosafari" around the historic district here in Thomasville.

A sweet sentiment scrawled on the sidewalk. Be sure to look down too!

Yes, I had my iPhone with me to take the pictures, but no, I wasn't listening to music or a podcast, as I often do. I wasn't texting or talking on the phone.

I made the deliberate choice to look and listen to the world around me. I decided to live in the moment and be present!

Something magical happens when you start looking at the world through a lens. You see details you've never noticed before, like carved wood finials, or a colorful mailbox.

I started seeing the colors on the houses and architectural details through the kaleidoscope of iconic colors created by Annie Sloan for her Chalk Paint line.

We, as a Flagship Store, are surrounded by Annie Sloan paint tins every day and help people select colors for their DIY projects.

Because of that immersion, I have fun looking at colors when out and about and mentally matching them to the array of Chalk Paint color choices.

Thomasville's historic district is a feast for the eyes, and I found that the breadth of colors, once I paid attention, is amazing! See all 20 of the photos on this Instagram post (One of the homes is ours! Can you guess which one?)

We look forward to seeing you as you execute your own summer game plan. I hope it includes coming to downtown Thomasville!

And when you come into the shop, be sure to check out all of the Chalk Paint colors, and also to ask us which are our favorite streets for seeing historic homes.

We're so happy to share!
