Staying warm and cozy this winter

"I love writing about my job because I loved it, and it was a particularly interesting one when I was a young man. It was like holidays with pay to me."~ James Herriot

Brrr ~ I hope you are staying warm, wherever you are! It's still a time of chilly days and cozy nights, even here in the Red Hills of south Georgia.

I don't know about you, but sometimes my favorite time of day is getting into jammies and either snuggling up on the sofa to watch something interesting or hopping into bed to read myself to sleep.

(Either of these after a good meal and a hot bath, of course ~ please see ideas for both on our website!)

As always, my favorite shows tend to be comfort food for the brain and the soul, such as the new series called Bookish (let me know if you've watched the first few episodes too!) or a classic favorite like All Creatures Great and Small.

Usually, it bothers me when a screen adaptation veers from its source material, especially when it is based on a true story, like the original James Herriot (pen name of Alf Wight OBE) book series.

However, this time I can't even get a little upset! This TV show captures the essence of the books and piques my interest because I really don't know what might happen next.

The latest season (or series, as they say in the UK) is finally available here in the US, and I am savoring each episode like a delectable dish.

Speaking of food, did you see that Prue Leith has announced her retirement from The Great British Bake Off (which, for some reason is dubbed The Great British Baking Show stateside)?

I can't believe she'd already been on for 9 years!

I feel like she just replaced Mary Berry, and I love each of these two dames (and I'm using the word "dame" in earnest, because they are both DBEs, the female equivalent of knighthood!).

I'll miss Prue, as I missed Mary when she departed. It's now been announced that Nigella Lawson is replacing Prue to judge alongside Paul Hollywood.

I have to confess, I have not watched Nigella's cooking shows nor used a single one of her recipes, so I am curious to see what she is like.

What do you think? I'd love to hear; just hit reply and let me know!

I need to run and prepare for tomorrow at the shop, as well as film this week's Friday Favorites video for Instagram ~ so it's TTFN (ta ta for now!)

Next week, I'll share what I've enjoyed reading recently!
