About Tristan: 

Tristan Merriam owns a shop called Doghead Designs in Clevedon, North Somerset, England, where he gives furniture new life, holds workshops, and also features unique products by local artisans. Tristan is Annie Sloan’s brand ambassador and was her 2025 Painter-in-Residence. He also co-hosts (along with Annie) her podcast, called The Colourist, and appears as a designer on the BBC’s Money for Nothing. 

Doghead Designs recently received the designation of being an Annie Sloan Flagship Store (of which there are only 44 out of 1,200 stockists globally ~ The Hare & The Hart is also honored to be on that list!)

A former school head teacher, Tristan takes great pleasure in empowering others to delve into the world of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. He runs biannual painting retreats with Annie in Bristol, and travels the world, teaching workshops everywhere from Australia to India, to the U.S.

Joyfully self employed for 7 years now, Tristan is married with 3 kids ~ and his favorite hobby is paddleboarding!
