Since 1688 French law has declared that only soaps that are produced by following certain ancient methods, and containing only the purest ingredients, shall bear the famous mark "Savon de Marseille."
Marseille soap is still made in the same traditional manner with pure vegetable oils, free of detergents and without animal fats.
The fine white powder on the surface of the soap is a bit of the sea salt, which will disappear once the soap is wet. This beloved characteristic affirms the authenticity of genuine Savon de Marseille. Fresh Marseille Soap can be a bit moist. Allowing it to dry and harden will make it last longer.
Each big, long-lasting block is 300 grams (more than 10 ounces) and is stamped with the iconic markings protected by French law.
Fragrance-free, extremely gentle.
